City Hall by Michael Keller

I met Michael Keller several years ago via the NYC Playtest group. He helped me playtest Cavemen a few times but his insight into the math at the heart of the system was truly impressive. He has a unique knack for deconstructing and analyzing game mechanics, and this attention to detail is evident in his own game designs. His games are considerably heavier than mine, but they are cleverly constructed, finely balanced, and most of all, lots and lots of fun. Even though I’ve never won any game of Michael’s that I’ve ever played, I’ve always had a great time, and that’s one of the highest compliments I think you can give a game!

Now, Michael’s City Hall is about to be released on Kickstarter this coming Monday, October 29th. Check out his great video here:

City Hall has everything you want in a meaty euro-game: it looks great, it’s got several good twists on familiar mechanics, and I’ve always felt like I was engaged in a political race with the other players. Do yourself a favor and jump on this one… this is a game that definitely deserves to be made!
